Date format

Here’s a quick list of date formats used in different countries:

  • UK dd/mm/yyyy
  • US mm/dd/yyyy
  • Germany dd.mm.yyyy 
  • China yyyy-mm-dd or yyyy/mm/dd. When dates are stated in a copy, it could be written in Chinese 2013年8月25日 (年 = year, 月 = month, 日 = day)
  • Japan yyyy-mm-dd or yyyy/mm/dd. When dates are stated in a copy, it could be written in Japanese 2013年8月25日 (年 = year, 月= month, 日= day)
  • India dd-mm-yy
  • Brazil dd/mm/yyyy. In formal writing months are spelled out and not capitalised (e.g. 20 de junho de 2013)
  • Russia dd-mm-yy
  • Saudi Arabia dd/mm/yyyy
